Profile

My name is Dr. Stephanie Marie Jones (she/her), and I am a clinical psychologist. I have a passion for diversity, and my work focuses on the intersection between trauma, neurodiversity, and diversity in gender, sex, and sexuality. I see individual clients aged 16+ for therapy and assessment.

My therapy approach for trauma and complex trauma (PTSD / C-PTSD) incorporates a mix of Schema-Focused Cognitive Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), with added elements of imagery rescripting, mindfulness, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, values-driven action drawn from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and select skills from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I am comfortable working with clients experiencing voices, dissociation (including Dissociative Identity Disorder, or DID), and multiplicity, and I honour the important functions that these processes serve. With these clients I like to support them to understand and get along better with all parts of themselves.

I enjoy working with the LGBTQIA+ community, and helping queer clients create lives that feel authentic, safe, and joyful. I am gender-affirming, and can do WPATH assessments for trans clients wishing to access affirming medical treatments. I am also poly- and kink-friendly.

I greatly enjoy working with clients that are autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, or otherwise neurodivergent. I offer neurodiversity-affirming therapy and autism assessments, and I particularly enjoy helping clients with more internalised, masked, or subtle neurodivergent presentations to better understand their neurotype. I am more than happy to accommodate different needs clients might have in the therapy process, such as sensory needs or a preference for non-spoken forms of communication.

I take a weight-inclusive approach, supporting Health at Every Size.

I welcome First Nations clients, and clients of all cultural, linguistic, and religious backgrounds.

I am familiar with application processes for the Disability Support Pension (DSP) and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), and am happy to provide medical evidence for both of these where appropriate.

My therapy style is warm, open, direct, humorous, patient, and encouraging. I incorporate feminist, anti-capitalist, and anti-colonial perspectives in my work.

When I’m not working I enjoy birdwatching, hiking, painting and drawing, making zines, gardening, baking bread, and table-top roleplaying games such as Dungeons and Dragons.
